April 25, 2019 Alhambra, California—When two acclaimed chefs come together to operate an eatery, it is usually good news for foodies and fine dining aficionados because the pairing is most always the basis for a winning recipe.  Energized and excited, Chefs Hugo Molina and his wife Aricia Alvarado, long-standing partners in life and now in a long-standing local eatery, are the new proprietors of Genovese’s Italian Kitchen, a neighborhood spot on the western edge of Alhambra.

After years of successful restaurant ventures, the couple is bringing their passion for great food closer to home, to a well-regarded but never pretentious bistro, where they will serve up delicious comfort food along with lighter, California-inspired  fare.

Reopening Genovese’s with a refreshed menu curated from the perspective that suggests it is not only possible but advisable to build upon the tried-and-true favorite dishes that turn new diners into regulars, staples like the popular Genovese’s lasagna and pizza pies, Alvarado and Molina say they want old and new patrons to enjoy the cheerful setting.

“We invite the community to make Genovese’s their spot to savor delicious dishes with wine and beer and a side of local history,” says Chef Molina.  “We are bringing some fresh and special touches to Genovese’s while also honoring the long history it has serving the neighborhood since 1980.”

“We want to give our long-time regulars the delicious dishes they keep coming back for, while adding new menu items we are sure will become favorites,” says Chef Aricia. “We also added more outdoor seating in a space with greenery and flowers for enjoying a meal al fresco.”

The grand re-opening, complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony, will be made official on Friday, May 17, at 11 am. The community is invited to attend and join in the celebration.  Throughout the entire weekend following the inaugural Friday morning program a special treat will be offered to all patrons stop in to try the new menu items on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19.
